Priya Maharaj is an Atlanta based IATSE Local 798 Makeup Department Head. Her passion for beauty began in childhood, inspired by watching her mother makeup for events. This fascination evolved into a full-time career in the Film and TV industry. With over 20 years of experience, Priya started her journey at Make-up Designory (MUD) in Los Angeles, where she earned a journeyman degree and honed her skills in various areas including film/TV, commercial, special effects, and editorial makeup.
Priya continues to evolve and grow her makeup skills through continuing education and keeping up with the latest trends and techniques. Also through her connections to the makeup community with The Powder Group, and On Makeup Magazine. She has also had the pleasure of mentoring and leading some amazing teams of artists along the way. Something Priya is passionate about mentoring emerging artists, sharing her expertise to help them navigate the industry.
Priya’s professionalism, makeup skills and set etiquette has allowed her to quickly grow within the Film and TV industry to now Department Head of makeup for numerous projects. She has had the pleasure of Department Heading some amazing projects over the years such as “Six Triple Eight,” “All The Queens Men,” “Ruthless” and “Sistas” to name a few. She has also collaborated with talented artists on notable projects such as “Fight Night,” “Ms. Marvel,” “Secret Headquarters,” “Monarch,” “Civil War” and much more.
Aside from working with various Celebrities along the way, Priya’s work has been featured in various publications such as On Makeup Magazine, ShuString Magazine, and VoyageATL.
